Moberly was founded on Sept 27, 1866. And 132 years later in 1998, the town of 11,945 people finally got what every small town needs: its own rap record label.
Hip-hop and rap music are sometimes hard to come by in Mid-Missouri but Moberly artist Duane
"D-Rome" Buckner has assembled an army of talent from across the state with his Stick-N-Move Records.
"We've been in the game so long," said Felicia Buckner, manager and promoter for Stick-N-Move, who has spent about eight years connecting with Missouri's hip-hop artists. "We really want people to love our music and feel good when they listen to it. We like to make music that fits our lifestyle."
The Stick-N-Move camp will bring their jams and a host of guest performers Saturday to The Blue Note, where D-Rome will be featured with his old-school style hip-hop
Moberly's Stick-N-Move Records heads back to The Blue Note tonight for a post-Thanksgiving dance party. Get your groove on with the Como DJ Connection, featuring DJ Oaktree and DJ P-Caso, as well as the Naughty Girls and a host of hip-hop artists who come from all over Missouri.
Stick-N-move centers on Duane Buckner, also known as D-Rome, who works as producer, engineer and featured artist for the independent recording company,. Buckner is surrounded by a strong cast, including lyricist Struct of East St Louis, Columbia's own
Ne-Ne and hip-hop newcomer Double O of Huntsville.
The Stick-N-Move camp featuring D-Rome offers old-schoold style hip-hop and always brings a handful of opening acts representing all of Missouri, from St. Louis to Kansas City. If you want to party, dance and get your crunk on, this is the place to be.
deep groove+midwest roots+heart and soul= D-ROME & BIG ARTIST
The midwest has a little bit of everything: the east, west, north and south. When mixed with the indiginous feeling of the local vibe you get cats like d-rome and big artist. I've been watching them develop for a few years and their strengths are many. The main one being that they are unique. Where else are you gonna hear something like "potatoes and steak"? Nowhere. The midwest has produced heavyweight artists for years and these cats are the proof that the tradition continues. -matt kane, NYC
